Andrea de Cesaris was a Formula 1 racer of the 1980s and 1990s. He began his lengthy career with McLaren and had stints with numerous teams. He evolved from a driver prone to wrecks to one who was a skilled midfield competitor. Andrea drove for the fledgling Jordan team near the end of his days as a racer. He achieved 5 podiums and would have won the 1982 Monaco Grand Prix if not for an empty fuel tank on his Alfa Romeo.
