The Naked Surfer Vol 1, is a collection of magazine articles dedicated to exposing surfing's odd and bizarre stories no matter how hard-hitting the truth may be. With a fierce love of the truth, V.B. Waxanov is dedicated to exposing the inner rumblings of surfing’s dark soul with the mighty power of pen and paper. He considers that no stories of relevant interest to his readers, to be too hard or too far from reach for him to pursue.
The Naked Surfer is the renown international surf journalist Vladimir Boris Waxanov, who due to his regular six-pack habit is affectionately known to his devoted readers as VB. Vlad (as his mother so lovingly calls him), made his name as a water sports writer in his native Kalmykia before immigrating southward.
Lured by Australia’s endless beaches, he moved to the Sunshine Coast in the early 2000’s.
Living within cycling distance of Noosa’s fabled point breaks, he is well aware of surfing their waves being likened to ‘A cup of tea with God.’ However, he would much prefer a cup of tea with Sean Doherty or a cup of coffee with Nick Carroll. And, if those guys are not available, then a couple of cold ones with Phil Jarrett when he is in town will more than suffice.
