John Reseck Jr's quest for adventure began in 1958, the International Geo-physical Year, when he was a member of the first U.S. Biological Team to study Antarctica. Of that adventure Reseck says, "I discovered an excitement and sense of fulfillment that comes only from overcoming hardships in an effort to accomplish something worthwhile."
Detached from civilization in double kayaks, paddling nine hours a day and battling raging surf all the way, this 1,200 mile voyage from San Diego, California to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, created the same type of excitement - and, ultimately, the same sense of fulfillment; but there were heavy prices to be paid along the way. The rough water and rocky coastline had been anticipated, but the rats, mice, ants, crabs, coyotes, mosquitoes, and wild pigs had not. The loss of essential equipment was also a surprise - and another challenge to be overcome. The lesson learned was that the human body, mind, and spirit can endure, create, and problem-solve far better than we generally assume.
Settle back and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime as John Reseck, Jr takes you for a wet and wild ride along the rocky coast of Baja California.
