What exactly is a Raspberry Pi?

Raspberry Pi is a single-board computer that is about the size of a credit card. It uses a 32-bit capable ARM processor and Fedora from Linux as its default operating system (OS).  It was originally developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation as a means of teaching basic computer science fundamentals and beginner programming in schools.

What can you use Raspberry Pi for?

You can use a Raspberry Pi for basic functions like watching HD videos, working with spreadsheets, and editing documents. Basically, you can use the credit card sized Pi for functions that a normal desktop computer is capable of doing.  You can also use the Pi as an FM transmitter, a multimedia center using XBMC, and time lapse photography.  It's also wonderful for teaching basic programming using Scratch and Arduino.
