Have you ever noticed that the maps in the back of the Bible are never full continental views? They are always zoomed in so close that you can’t make out exactly where the area is on a globe. However, if you zoomed out and could see the full area, you’d quickly realize that everything in the Bible happened in Africa, near Africa, or in Arabian territory controlled by Africans.
Even though this is the case, the notion that black people in scripture just seems farfetched to many people, because we’ve been shown nothing but images of people in the Bible as Europeans all of our lives. These images couldn’t be further from the reality of the situation, and the reality is that Africa and people of color are instrumental to all of scripture.
This journey into scripture promises to be one of the most eye opening adventures we’ve ever embarked on, and it is guaranteed to change your entire perception of scripture. On this journey, we will examine the Biblical text, study the history, and explore the geography of the Bible. We will change our beliefs to fit with scripture, and not try to change scripture to fit our preconceived notions. Prepare to have your eyes open and your mind blown.
