製作初期段階で描かれた美術ボード、ストーリーボードに加え、
物語の舞台となる「宝町」の設定画を網羅的に収録した「基礎工事編」。ストーリーボードは、物語の流れを約100枚のイラストで描き綴った美術監督・木村真二の手によるフルカラーのイラスト。設定画は濃密な鉛筆画で描かれ、「宝町」の商店街、時計塔、クロとシロの家、子供の城など、宝町のデザインの全貌を伝えます。高品位印刷により、鉛筆の濃淡まで厳密に再現。緻密に作り上げられた圧倒的な映像世界の原点がここに明かされる。巻末に美術監督の木村真二と監督のマイケル・アリアスの対談を収録。

This artbook is a collection of early art boards & story boards, background paintings, line drawings of the feature animation film "Tekkonkinkreet." Story boards are a series of full color illustrations drawn by Shinji Kimura, the art director. The 100 illustrations follow the story line. A talk with Michael Arias, the director, and Shinji Kimura is included at the end of the book. (Captions and texts are in Japanese.)
