Are you looking for ways to make hand crafted crankbaits in less time?
I usually make custom wooden lures just for my own use and for a select group of friends and fishing guides, so until recently being able to make a lot of lures very quickly hasn't been a priority.
Actually, making a one-off, custom wooden crankbait in 45 minutes actually started as a bet with my good fishing buddy Tim. Had I failed to make a lure in in less than an hour and then catch a fish with it, well, I would have ended up fishing in my underwear in what I'm sure would have been a very public spot indeed!
That's incentive!
To avoid that from happening I had to muster all of my lure making experience to design and make a wooden lure that could be started and finished quickly, would look pretty professional and would be a reliable fish catcher.
Now, I have a whole bunch of different wooden lures that I make regularly, so if I'd been allowed to make one of those it wouldn't have been too much of a challenge. But the rules of the bet were that this bait must be a one-off original, not just a remake of one of my old favorites.
There was one important concession though - the time that the lure spent on the drying rack during painting or gluing wouldn't count towards my 45 minutes.
The whole process forced me to think very differently about the lure design and the lure making processes I would use to make this wooden crankbait as efficiently as possible and still end up with a fishing lure that was strong, durable and above all would catch fish.
I found the process interesting and challenging and I actually learned some new things from along the way, which is why I decided to share my experience. I hope to give my readers not only an entertaining read, but lots of tips and options for ways to make wooden fishing lures quickly.
Who is this eBook for?
Well, anyone who is interested in hand making wooden lures quickly and then getting out and catching some fish with them! You're not going to use these techniques to churn out millions of mass-produced baits and start competing with the Chinese factories/ But if you're a recreational lure maker like me you'll get to spend more time fishing, or (if you sell hand made baits) you may end up with a few extra dollars in your pockets as a result of increased productivity.
I hope you find this eBook both entertaining and informative.
