This book covers the 1928 tour to Australia and New Zealand by the English Rugby League. It follows on from the 1920 tour (The Lions Roar Again) and 1924 tour (The Northern Lions on Tour) The 1928 tour broke new ground in a number of areas it was a tour that saw the skipper play half a test match with a broken thumb. The tourists use the medium of radio for the first time to publicise events. Two brothers selected for the tour for the first and only time. An Ashes cup presented to the winners for the first time. It was to see the tourists win the series in both countries. On their return journey they would play the first ever professional rugby league game in Canada.
The book details the important games played along with events that transpired off the field. Problems with the Queensland Authorities that almost saw the tour abandoned. Refereeing problems once again blight events particularly in New Zealand. The book is a must for those who have previously purchased the works on the 1920 and 1924 tours and rugby historians and rugby supporters in general.
