Welcome. They call me Fairytall because I am, tall that is. I have the honour to be Queen of this fair land.
Let me explain why I am here. I only learned recently that not all ‘human children’ can see fairies any more. I found this very disturbing. If they cannot see fairies, how can they connect to the wonderment of nature or indeed their own imagination?
I had to solve this problem, so I contacted all the leaders of the magical races in my realm, and asked them to attend a meeting at my home in the deep forest.
As you probably know, we fairies really don’t need much of a reason to make any meeting into a splendid ‘Tea Party’ with home made cakes and Elvin bread, we make them all happy times to remember.
And so it was, I had time to catch up on all the news from the far reaches of my realm. We chatted, we laughed, we even sang songs of love and times gone by and then it happened.
Without very much warning the young Elvin Prince Jarin stood up and said the two words that will always stop the chattering and gain our attention. He said . . . ‘What If’ . . .
Yes, I know that humans don’t see these two words as important or magical. I would even say that many human parents’ see these words almost as irritating as ‘are we nearly there yet’!
But we don’t see it that way. You see, we feel that if someone is considering the wondrous world of possibilities, then they are using their imagination and that is the greatest creative gift of all.
So, back to my Tea Party. When the Elvin Prince had the attention of everyone at the party, he looked over to me, and to strengthen his point, he repeated ‘What If’, your majesty, ‘your magic users could devise a spell that could work with the hand held devices that humans love so much, so the ‘human children’ could see in to our world, if only for a brief moment’?
Well, once again my ‘Tea Party’ guests fell into complete silence. But this time it was because they thought this idea was truly amazing and how really clever the young Elvin Prince was to dream of such idea.
I then addressed the young Prince. My dear Prince Jarin, I love your idea and I promise you if it is possible I will make it so, but may I trouble you for your advice on which fairies you think we should asked first?
The Prince’s answer came as no big surprise. He said the ‘Wild Flower Fairies’ my majesty. They would be the ideal choice, if they agree that is, and I know that they will. You see, they are the bravest and most adventures of all the fairies.
We all celebrated the decision and Prince Jarin’s brilliant idea well into the night. Before we all went our separate ways, I thanked every one of my guests for their help and their good company.
